Laurelin and Telperion

"And as they watched, upon the mound there came fourth two slender shoots; and silence was over all the world that hour. Nor was there any sound save the chanting of Yavanna. Under her song the saplings grew and came to flower; and thus awoke the Two Trees of Valinor. Of all things which Yavanna made they have most renown, and about their fate all the tales of the Elder days are woven....."


Laurelin is the youngest tree, and she shines with a golden light. Telperion is the older, and he shines with a silver light. I deliberated what colour to make the bases that the trees sit on, and then decided that they would be sitting on the leaf of the other tree - so Laurelin sits on Telperion's leaf, and Telperion sits on Laurelin's leaf. (Although I took a bit of artistic license - the book says Telperions leaves are green with silver underneath, and Laurelin's leaves are green edged with gold....)

Polymer clay, metallic paints, leather thonging, hand-made jump-rings, amber (Laurelin pendant), quartz (Telperion pendant). I have no idea how long these took, but I'd say about 7 hours for each piece, taking into account all the sculpting, painting and waiting for each coat to dry.
