The leaves were long, the grass was green,
The hemlock-umbels tall and fair,
And in the glade a light was seen
Of stars in shadow shimmering.
Tinuviel was dancing there
To music of a pipe unseen,
And light of stars was in her hair,
And in her raiment glimmering.
I can't really claim credit for the overall look here - I was following a tutorial (from
), but the other little additions are mine.
And I think I've finally found the style I like. Basically, instead of painting the whole darn thing (which I can't seem to do properly with humans - birds, no problem, as seen in my Autumn Peacock) I just paint in the highlights and reflected highlights - and it's that that gives the painted look. I didn't need to smooth the skin in this picture since it was so well lit, but in others, I'll probably have to.

, model from shutterstock (included in the purchase of the tutorial - I don't have the exact link, but it's photo number 11409778)
